Republican senator: Trump may be trying to make 'everybody crazy'

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told ABC's George Stephanopolous on Sunday that, while not their "first choice", the proposed moving of undocumented immigrants to sanctuary cities is "an option on the table" and could be a "win".

To defend Trump's new policy, White House spokesman Hogan Gidley told Fox News on Saturday that "they have said they wanted all of these illegal aliens into their communities".

"Nobody thinks that this is the ideal solution", Sanders said.

"It's part of a pattern of conduct we certainly have to take a look at after we see the Mueller report", Nadler said.

"If they can single out one, they can single out everybody", she said.

Sanders admitted that the plan "was brought up at a staff level and it was determined at that time that, logistically, there were a lot of challenges and it probably didn't make sense to move forward and the idea did not go further..."

"I am aware that concerns have been raised regarding my request and the authority of the Committee".

Trump's criticism came after it reported, based on anonymous sources, that he had ordered acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan to shut down the U.S. -Mexico border.

On Friday, Trump said that his administration is "strongly looking at" the possibility of releasing immigrants into sanctuary cities, undercutting earlier denials from his own administration officials.

"The President's words weigh a ton, and his hateful and inflammatory rhetoric creates real danger", Pelosi said. They will lie & cheat anyway possible to make me look bad.

Sanders added, the President's top priority is to stop the flow of illegal immigration coming into the U.S.

Schaaf was responding to a tweet by Trump Saturday afternoon when the USA president seemed to mock Schaaf's earlier statement accusing Trump of planning to send undocumented immigrants to sanctuary cities.

The Department of Homeland Security has said that Congress has not appropriated any money to transport the migrants from the border to far-flung sanctuary cities across the USA, while the Immigration and Custom Enforcement agency has called it an "unnecessary operational burden".

Rep. Jerry Nadler, a New York Democrat whose constituents include Manhattan's financial district, which was targeted on September 11, 2001, said he had no issues with Omar's characterization of the attack.

"Nor is it right for the president to use immigrants or people claiming political asylum as pawns in a fight against political opponents", he said on CNN's "State of the Union".

The chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., questioned the legality of the proposal.

USA congressional Democrats have given the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) a final deadline of April 23 to hand over President Donald Trump's tax returns.
