Conor McGregor arrested on Miami beach

Mixed Martial Arts star fighter Conor McGregor was arrested Monday evening after police said he smashed a fan's phone outside the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel.

McGregor allegedly slapped the phone out of the fan's hand and then stomped on it several times to destroy it.

The 30-year-old has been charged with felony strong-armed robbery and misdemeanor criminal mischief.

McGregor picked up the phone, valued at $1,000, and walked away with it, police said.

McGregor's lawyer Samuel Rabin told The Herald in a statement that his client "was involved in a minor altercation involving a cell phone that resulted in a call to law enforcement".
