FIR lodged against Indian pilots

The Pakistan People's Party (PPP), the country's main opposition, has taken a strong stance against the Imran Khan government for not raising the issue of Indian aggression at worldwide forums like the United Nations, the Common Wealth and the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC).

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered by the forestry department on Friday against pilots of the Indian Air Force (IAF) including Abhinandan Varthaman for bombing and destroying trees in the Balakot area, according to Pakistan Media reports.

For instance, "there was the unusual phenomenon yesterday of the Pakistan ambassador to the United States, while talking at the Institute for Peace, claiming that there is no organized terror group in Pakistan".

"This de-escalated a unsafe situation but more has to be done".

"Over the past several days we have witnessed Pakistan indulging in false propaganda and spread of misinformation".

Kumar also said if, as Pakistan claims, it has evidence of downing of second Indian aircraft then why has it not shared it. Some groups have also enjoyed support from the military and intelligence services.

Contending that "Pakistan is trying to deflect attention by issuing various statements suggesting that India still continues to threaten Pakistan militarily", a source said.

The newspaper said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is waging a tough re-election campaign in which he has used anti-Pakistan talk to fuel Hindu nationalism.

Pakistan has detained more than 100 suspected militants, the country's interior ministry said Thursday, amid an ongoing crackdown on extremist groups prompted by weeks of high tension with neighboring India.

The IAF had carried out strike on terror camps belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed, the Pakistan-based terror outfit which claimed responsibility for attack on CRPF jawans in Jammu and Kashmir.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi later said the USA, together with the help of other countries, defused the Pak-India tension that threatened a large-scale war.

To a question, he said a Pakistani delegation will visit New Delhi to sort out modalities in connection with Kartarpur Corridor.

"It's hard to see a role as a mediator for Trump, who has shifted the USA more firmly against Pakistan and towards India, where he has pursued business interests". No one had been killed they said.
