Disney Opens The Vault For Streaming Service

The anticipated Disney Plus streaming service will offer customers every single motion picture from the company, according to a new report.

Disneys streaming service will compete with the likes of Netflix and will launch later this year in the USA and possibly other regions.

What movies are you looking forward to seeing when Disney+ launches later this year?

Polygon says during an investor's meeting in St. Louis, Iger told investors that the concept of the Disney Vault - the idea that your favorite Disney films wouldn't be released for a long period of time - was done.

Iger said in November 2017 the plan was to price Disney Plus "substantially below where Netflix is", CNET reported.

A number of new movies and shows are set to launch exclusively on the streaming platform, including a live-action Star Wars series titled The Mandalorian. If you didn't purchase a copy during that time, your options were limited to buying a used copy or renting a VHS/disc.

The company has been releasing films since the 1920s, including cultural landmarks such as Snow White and Cinderella, as well as modern classics like Moana and Coco.

Iger added that new movies such as the upcoming Captain Marvel will become available on Disney+ within one year of theatrical release.

Disney has already said it will be removing all of its titles from Netflix later this year, a move that will include the removal of all Pixar movies. Seems to be a combination of central location, space availability, and paying homage to Walt Disney's home state and his effort to launch a theme park here back in the 1960s.
