New Apex Legends patch fixes weapon balancing

You can check out the full patch notes here for the latest update in Apex Legends, which is now live on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

For a time, the Wingman and Peacekeeper combo was pretty much the default loadout for Apex players.

While streaming the wildly-popular battle royale game on Wednesday, Shroud questioned why Apex developer Respawn Entertainment even bothered with their recent Wingman nerf.

First up, the Peacekeeper re-chambers at a slower pace depending on which shotgun bolt is equipped.

Increased availability of energy weapons & ammo in all zone tiers.

Yesterday, developer Respawn made a few balance changes to Apex Legends. "We'll be continuing to watch player data and feedback and trying things out internally but for now, they'll remain the same".

The TL;DR quote direct from the community manager is that they're looking to make "less frequent, better tested, higher impact balance changes in order to minimize the impacts on your time spent mastering the game".

More information on all the changes mentioned in the above post, and everything else included in yesterday's update, can be found on the Apex Legends Reddit. One of the changes to the Wingman was the rate of fire being reduced from 3.1 to 2.6 shots per second and the Peacekeeper included the Shotgun Bolt rechamber rate being reduced.

That's why they're not buffing the P2020 or Mozambique - Respawn want people to scrabble around in search of better weapons at the start.

Fixed some script errors that we identified were occasionally causing disconnects during matches.

"Our goal is to have a power curve of weapons". Jayfresh_Respawn said "some weapons will be weaker and more common, while others will be stronger and rarer".

Caustic occasionally causing disconnects while throwing is Ultimate.

Regarding the Legend balance and Hitbox feedback, Respawn want each Legend to be slightly different but to be fairly equal in power level, win rate and viability of pick.

If these adjustments prove to be insufficient, we'll consider additional adjustments during Season 1.

Pathfinder occasionally causing disconnects when activating a Survey Beacon. All tiers of the attachment now have less of an impact on rate of fire, "so players will have a larger window of vulnerability if they miss their shot".

As you may know, right now it's possible to report any cheater you come across while playing Apex Legends, but the process is a bit obtuse.

Gibraltar occasionally causing disconnects when pulling up his Gun Shield.

Traps - Increased radius and proximity radius by about 10%.
