Senator tells youth climate change activists

The Sunrise Movement, a fringe group that tries to intimidate politicians into supporting socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's (D-NY) "Green New Deal", shared a selectively edited video clip of the exchange. It calls for updating ALL U.S. buildings to be energy efficient, knocking down those, which can not be saved, transitioning away from fossil fuels within ten years, and culling farting cows. It's quite hilarious, though.

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) had an unlikely dust-up Friday with a group of young children over climate change policy, CNN reported.

In a news release later in the day, Feinstein addressed the whole encounter, confirming that she met with a group of children, young adults and parents who sought her support of the Green New Deal. And I know what I'm doing. "And I know what I'm doing", she tells the group.

"The government is supposed to be for the people and by the people", one child tells Feinstein.

In the original video, the group can be seen and heard saying they wanted to present Feinstein with a letter asking her "to vote yes on the Green New Deal". "You come in here and you say, 'It has to be my way or the highway.' I don't respond to that".

ACTIVIST: I'm 16, I can't vote.

"I've gotten elected, I just ran, I was elected by nearly a million-vote plurality, and I know what I'm doing", the senator continued. So maybe, you should listen a little bit.

"Some scientists have said we have 12 years to turn this around", a girl told the senator. The kids are kinda cute at first as they ask the six-term senator to sign on to a "transformative" plan whose component parts, price tag, and schedule are so delusional that Democratic contenders for the 2020 presidential nomination are dragging it is "aspirational" and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) waved it away as "the green dream, or whatever they call it".

This is how @SenFeinstein reacted to children asking her to support the #GreenNewDeal resolution - with smugness + disrespect.

"I want the children to know they were heard loud and clear".

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) waits to board an elevator after a vote on January 31 on Capitol Hill. Others commented by noting that overall, the discussion was not contentious and that the California liberal acted perfectly reasonable in the face of this confrontation.

Whether you're on the side of the kids or the grandma (not an insult, Feinstein reports she has seven grandchildren), one lesson here is that telling a bunch of kids that you won your race by "a million vote plurality" isn't the best way to endear yourself to an increasingly rambunctious climate movement. "And you can take that back to whoever sent you here".

Feinstein goes on to explain that she has drafted her own resolution, which she says will have both a meaningful impact and a chance of passing in the Republican-controlled Senate.

Feinstein told the students she is opposed to the Green New Deal for several reasons, including "we can't pay for it" and she doesn't agree with what it says.

Zuckerman said Saturday the group didn't have an appointment with Feinstein.
