Five juveniles arrested and charged after 24-year-old is killed

The Tennessean reported Friday that three girls ages 12, 14 and 15, and two boys, ages 13 and 16, have been charged with the homicide of 24-year-old Kyle Yorlets, a singer-songwriter and member of the Nashville-based band Carverton.

Yorlets was from Pennsylvania and went to college at Belmont University in Nashville.

Investigators say the juveniles were in a "stolen" pick-up truck outside of musician Kyle Yorlet's home.

The five minors suspected in the shooting death of Carlisle native and Nashville musician Kyle Yorlets were taken into custody Thursday, according to WZTV.

Police believe the five juveniles were in a stolen pickup in the alley behind his house, when they ran into him.

The group was arrested at a Walmart in West Nashville, hours after police reported finding their suspected getaway truck, which was reported stolen from Oak Grove, Kentucky on Wednesday.

The suspects were identified as Diamond Lewis, 15; Roniyah McKnight, 14; Decorrius Wright, 16; as well as the 12-year-old and a 13-year-old boy whose names were withheld due to their ages.

According to the Post, the teens "interacted" with Yorlets before taking his wallet and demanding his vehicle keys.

Yorlets was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where staff pronounced him dead.

On Friday, Yorlets' bandmates released a statement addressing his death.

The band was growing its local presence and was looking forward to the album's release, he said.

Statement from Carverton regarding Kyle Yorlets: "On February 7, 2019 we lost our brother, best friend, and bandmate..." 'We are heartbroken. Our condolences for his family and loved ones and all the lives that he touched.

When arrested, the suspects were in possession of a loaded 9mm pistol; another loaded pistol was found inside the store.

A GoFundMe has been established to help with funeral costs and travel expenses for Yorlets' family.
