Parton then joined the women to finish the song before Cyrus arrived on stage in a glittering yellow suit to to duet with Parton on "Jolene".

Cyrus teased the tribute in the days leading up to her performance with an Instagram post showing her with Shawn Mendes in matching leather jackets with Parton's face emblazoned on the back.

When word got out that the Grammys would be putting on a Dolly Parton tribute at the February 10, 2019 ceremony it took only a hot second for music artists to line up at the chance to serenade the 73-year-old entertainment icon with her own songs.

Dolly Parton was joined by more than a dozen of the top-recording artists to perform at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

Next up was country music group Little Big Town who sang Parton's new song "Red Shoes".

Parton, whose career began with appearances at the age of 10 on radio stations in her native Tennessee, began her speech with a joke that made light of her backcountry roots. "No one I think deserves to be honored tonight more than Dolly, not just because of her talent, but because of every bit of giving that she does and that's what MusiCares is about". She thanked her "Aunt Dolly" after the performance. "Because I have actually worked with so many wonderful men and I've never met a man that I didn't like and I've never met a man whose ass I couldn't kick if he didn't treat me with the right respect". For Parton, being apart from time to time does both parties good in the long run because this gives spouses something to look forward to when they reunite.

On Friday night, Parton was awarded with the MusiCares Person of the Year. "You're not personally involved, but you still get off on it". The Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, founded in 1995, has mailed more than 100 million books to children in the United States and other countries. Parton received the Recording Academy's "Lifetime Achievement Award" in 2011.
