Joy Behar Under Fire After Photo of Her in Blackface Resurfaces

She was 29 years old in the photo; the year was 1971.

At the time, the only non-white co-host next to her was Raven-Symoné who seemed puzzled and kept questioning just what she was looking at since the photo was also shown to the studio audience.

"I was so cute", Ms. Behar said. It was a Halloween party. "[Behar] clearly stated she put on makeup darker than her skin for a "beautiful African woman" Halloween costume".

"You mean blackface?" Symoné responded. The Democratic leader later said he was not in the photo and hadn't seen it before. He then admitted he did once use shoe polish to darken his skin to resemble Michael Jackson for a dance contest in 1984. Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring, who'd previously called for Northam's resignation, later admitted that he too had dressed in blackface, sparking calls for his ouster as well.

In October, NBC host Megyn Kelly was canned from the network after comments concerning people dressing up as characters and celebrities of differing races on Halloween that critics decried as "racist".

Behar answered that she wore makeup "that was a little bit darker than my skin". She said that growing up, it was considered a tribute.

De Lesseps publicly apologized for her costume.

Needless to say, Behar's costume isn't sitting well on Twitter today.

Another added: "Megan Kelly was ripped apart and fired from her job for asking a hypothetical question about it!"

Many commented that Behar will "get a pass" because she's a liberal.

"Joy. Joy. Joy", she continued.

Behar has yet to address the recently resurfaced photo at the time of this writing.

Reacting to Raven-Symoné's clear change of tone, Behar asked, "Why are you upset with me now?" Some are calling it a "non-controversy" and saying that Trump supporters must not know "what blackface is". "Even if she's often unfair to conservatives - stick to basic principles of fairness", Ingraham tweeted on Thursday morning about the Behar image.
