'They don't want me': Patriots' Duron Harmon will refuse White House invitation

Professional sports teams traditionally have been invited to the White House after winning championships to celebrate their victories.

New England Patriots safety Duron Harmon - one of the key players in the Super Bowl - says he will NOT be joining the team to visit Donald Trump ... explaining, "They don't want me in the White House". When asked if he'd like to instead visit Obama, as the National Basketball Association champion Warriors did, he didn't hesitate.

"Nah, man", Harmon said when asked by a reporter behind the camera whether he would attend. "They don't want me in the White House".

"Hey, Obama, come holler at me, man", Harmon said.

TMZ Sports caught up with Harmon as he was leaving Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta after the Patriots beat the Rams for their third Super Bowl title in five years.

The Hill points out that "Trump is known to be a fan of the Patriots and is friends with quarterback Tom Brady, head coach Bill Belichick, and owner Robert Kraft".

Even for those who don't care for President Trump, what was so special about President Obama that they feel the need to cling on to his time as president?

President Trump a year ago rescinded his invitation to the Philadelphia Eagles after learning that the majority of the team were not planning on attending. The two-time NBA MVP had already strongly suggested that he and his team-mates had no desire to make the visit, saying they didn't stand for "what our president. said and the things that he hasn't said in the right terms".

It is an honor to be invited to the White House.
