Ariana Grande pulls out of Grammy Awards 2019 performance

Ariana Grande has reportedly pulled out of performing at the Grammy awards following a dispute with producers.

Sources told Variety that Ariana felt "insulted" when producers wouldn't allow her to perform her latest single "7 Rings" but a compromise was reached where the track would be part of a medley.

Grande, who was named Billboard's woman of the year last year, is up for two Grammys including "Best Pop Vocal Performance" for last year's "God Is A Woman" and Best Pop Vocal Album for "Sweetener" which was released last summer.

Grande has been uncharacteristically quiet about this reported development on social media, so it's at least possible that the decision is not final and something can be worked out. Things quickly fell apart all over again when organisers are said to have asked for full control over her second song choice.

But if Variety's report proves true - and Ari really was planning to perform - the report claims that the more than dozen other artists set to take the Grammys stage weren't "imposed" with the same "stipulations".

Rumor has it that the singer will no longer perform, or even attend the Grammys at all! But the 25-year-old singer has made it clear before: she's not a pushover in this industry.

CNN has reached out to the Recording Academy for comment.

A source close to the situation stated that these preconditions weren't enforced on any of the other performers - like Cardi B, Shawn Mendes and Miley Cyrus. Kendrick Lamar and Drake are the top Grammy contenders, earning eight and seven nominations respectively while Brandi Carlile is up for six awards.
