Kristaps Porzingis on New York Knicks fans: "Stay woke"

Kristaps Porzingis on New York Knicks fans:

In addition to his "Truth Will Come Out" message on Instagram the night of the trade, Porzingis wrote on the social media site Sunday: "The city deserves better than that".

According to a report from Ian Begley of ESPN, several teams that were interested in making an offer for Porzingis didn't get an opportunity to do so before the Knicks pulled the trigger and traded the fourth-year forward to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Dennis Smith Jr.

The foundation was in place for Porzingis to leave, as he has been unhappy with management and the direction of the organization for some time.

This comes in the wake of Davis handing in a trade request at the New Orleans Pelicans with the Knicks being linked with a move for the five-time All-Star.

As Eddie Sefko of Mavs.com pointed out, the Mavs are more than likely to ensure Porzingis' ACL is 100 percent recovered before they pair him with Dallas' other young phenom - rookie guard Luka Doncic.

"I was surprised. I was surprised", the 7-foot-3 Latvian told reporters at a press conference on Monday in Dallas.

Porzingis said sitting out this season has always been the plan, and he will remain patient despite saying he feels "bouncy" and is excited to get back on the court as soon as possible. "I really think we can be something special". "My legs (are) feeling great. I just have to make the most of it". The Knicks said recently he would undergo testing during the middle of February that could have determined if he would be able to return this season.

"I can answer that for you".
