Wentz, who was coming off a severe knee injury from the 2017 season, threw for 3,074 yards with 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions before a fractured vertabra derailed him for the last five games of this season.

Although Eagles executive Vice President of football operations Howie Roseman said Tuesday the Eagles would love to keep Foles, it's hard to imagine both Wentz and Foles being here next year both because of financial considerations and because Foles has made it clear he wants to be a starter.

"Yeah, like I said, I would love to lead a team", Foles said, via Tim McManus of ESPN.

"The quarterback is a piece of that puzzle and you create that with confidence in the locker room and then letting guys know genuinely who you are". "We haven't had a lot of substance in those conversations and because we want to have relationships with our players where we keep those talks close to the vest, I don't know that it will be helpful to talk about any player about what we want to do". If the team does not exercise the option, Foles can be a free agent this offseason.

The Eagles are getting the younger and better overall quarterback in Wentz and Foles is about to go make some serious money on the open market. It's possible the Eagles could use the franchise or transition tag to trade Foles rather than allow him to walk away for only a compensation pick. "We try to factor that in as well, but the bottom line is we gotta do what's best for our football team". "We have to make decisions based on that", Roseman said. "But there's also the respect factor for guys that have done a lot for us and have been part of (the team's success)". Those were two of the three guys who were part of the rotation in the Super Bowl previous year; really key guys.So we have to look at that among other positions and figure out where we are going forward.
