Chelsea make a move for Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain

Chelsea are willing to spend £50m on Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson if their attempts to sign Gonzalo Higuain fail, according to a report on Sky Sports.

On-loan from Juventus, Higuain is wanted by Chelsea - a situation that irks Leonardo.

Higuain excelled under Sarri during his time at Napoli, scoring 38 goals in his final season before making a big money move to rivals Juve.

Morata - who has netted only 16 goals in 47 league appearances since his £60m switch from Real Madrid in 2017 - is linked with a move to Spain with Sevilla apparently keen on the former Real Madrid forward.

A World Cup runner-up in 2014, he is also a prolific victor of trophies having claimed three Liga titles with Real Madrid and two Serie A victories at Juventus amid a plethora of cup successes at Madrid, Napoli and Juve.

Higuain had his most successful season under Sarri, breaking the Serie A goalscoring record with 36 goals in the 2015/16 campaign.

Higuain sent out on loan to AC Milan last August after the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and the Argentine has been unable to find his footing at the club.

"Moreover, Milan has no intention of letting Higuain go because it would be hard to replace it. Milan would not make money from the sale of Higuain but will not take the loan".

Brazilian Leonardo added: "There's no point following rumours and gossip".

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri's primary target is Higuain, who he worked with during his time at Napoli.

"A goal can change things, but if he is to continue here, he needs to take on responsibility".
