Harden's fifth straight 40-point game helps Rockets top Warriors in OT

It took his second triple-double of the week, fifth straight 40-point performance and sheer will to rally the Houston Rockets past the Golden State Warriors 135-134 in a thriller between Western Conference powers Thursday night for their sixth straight victory.

James Harden has been on a tear since last 2-3 weeks and has been pouring in points effortlessly. "I had confidence it would go in".

"I don't know where it ranks but I'm just happy to come away with the win", Harden said.

Harden - who is now averaging a career-best 33.3 points, 8.4 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game this season - has scored at least 40 points in his last four games, and scored at least 30 in his last 10. Harden also had a triple-double Monday against Memphis of 43 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists. He hasn't scored less than 30 points in a game since December 11. Stephen Curry finished with 35 points for the Warriors, who have been struggling of late to find their form. He released the ball with at least four hands in his face for the game-winner.

"I need it. I need it for sure", Harden told the Houston Chronicle.

Harden also hit 3-pointers at the 3:52 and 2:02 marks of OT in a game featuring dazzling displays on both ends by some of the game's biggest stars. It was Kawhi Leonard's first game back in San Antonio since he was traded.

Elsewhere, DeMar DeRozan recorded his first career triple-double as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Toronto Raptors 125-107. DeRozan finished with 21 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists as he dominated the battle against Leonard, who was making his first trip back since being traded to Toronto in the off-season.

"People want to say great things about our front office and our coaching staff, and that's always appreciated". "I'm like, 'OK, I got to do it, too.' He's so special".
