Quarterback Fields confirms transfer to Ohio State

Former five-star recruit and Georgia quarterback Justin Fields is transferring to Ohio State, website Lettermen Row reported Friday, citing multiple unidentified sources.

Buckeyes starting quarterback Dwayne Haskins is expected to enter the NFL Draft, although he has not officially made an announcement about his future.

He will be going on an official visit this weekend enrolling in classes, which start next week.

The Telegraph has reached out to the University of Georgia and Ohio State for confirmation but have not received a response at this time.

However, Georgia did not use Fields in the Sugar Bowl loss against Texas. Ohio State also has redshirt sophomore Tate Martell and freshman Matthew Baldwin waiting in the wings as well. Eason did sit out the 2018 season, where as Fields intends to apply for a waiver to make him immediately eligible. He came to Athens thinking he could beat out Jake Fromm.

It's never easy to replace a coaching legend but Ohio State's Ryan Day is stepping into a good situation which appears to be getting even sweeter by the day. Both are close and have trained with quarterbacks coach Quincy Avery.

Haskins finished as a distant third to Oklahoma's Kyler Murray and Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa in the Heisman Trophy voting, but had a fantastic first and only season as Ohio State's starter.

Haskins is the school record holder and Big Ten record holder for passing yards and touchdown passes in a single season.
