LG's tech-packed new soundbars will be on show at CES

An audio system, jointly developed jointly by LG and Meridian Audio of Britain, was applied to the new sound bar in different models.

The collaboration between the two companies goes beyond basic fine-tuning or the adoption of feature-sets, according to LG. Google Assistant will let you do the regular Google stuff (play Spotify songs, control connected devices, etc.) and also control the soundbar's volume and other controls.

All three models are said to support both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, as well as offering Google Assistant.

All three sound bars have a sleek and stylish design. Drawing on 25 years of experience as the Master of Digital Signal Processing, Meridian's Bass & Space technology improves the soundstage and envelops listeners in rich, uncompromising sound and strong bass.

Another key feature included is Google Assistant, which is pretty much the same as when the firm announced its ThinQ brand past year (interestingly, there's no mention of the ThinQ brand in the press release). At only 57mm (2.25 in) deep, the LG SL9 can also be installed flush to the wall for a clean, streamlined appearance that saves space and makes a sophisticated statement. SL9 (CES Innovation Award recipient), and SL8 sound bars will all be on display at CES 2019 in Las Vegas on January 8-11.

If you want the full surround sound experience you can also team the new soundbars up with LG's optional wireless Rear Speaker Kit (SPK8).

One other interesting detail: The SL9YG model has a gyroscope inside which LG says "gauges the position of the product (fixed to a wall or on a flat surface), adjusting sound directionality to guarantee the optimal listening experience". As LG and Meridian put it, the soundbar range isn't just meant to deliver better audio but work toward ennobling your home entertainment setup as a whole.
