Maurizio Sarri keen on Alvaro Morata, Gonzalo Higuain swap deal?

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Blues have given on signing Gonzalo Higuain, who was a reported target in the previous transfer window.

It is believed that Maurizio Sarri is keen to reunite with Higuain, who he had worked during their time together at Napoli and are, therefore, ready to sacrifice Morata, who has failed to prove his worth at Stamford Bridge so far this season.

Higuain strived under Sarri during his time at Napoli and it was his goals under the Italian head coach that saw him earn a big-money move to Juventus.

He was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer but joined Milan in a £16.3m loan deal, with the club having an option to buy him permanently for £32.6m.

That deal with Juventus, after Chelsea had shown interest too following Sarri's appointment, was also a swap and saw Leonardo Bonucci return to Turin on a full-time basis.

Most importantly, however, the 31-year-old has previously worked with Sarri, which cannot only help him acclimatise faster under the Italian's tactical philosophy.

Chelsea have deployed Eden Hazard as a false nine on a number of occasions this season, with Morata struggling for form and Olivier Giroud scoring just once in the Premier League.

"He is a wonderful player, a wonderful man".

Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso played down the possibility of Higuain joining Chelsea on Friday, but it is understood there will be more talks between Chelsea, Milan and Juve.
