NPD: Early ‘Call of Duty’ Launch Led to Flat November Sales

A newRed Dead Redemption 2 PC version video has apparently leaked and is still available on YouTube.

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 4" was the second best-selling game of the month, and the best-selling game year-to-date. It also remains the best-selling game of the year, meaning its overall sales remain higher than Red Dead Redemption 2's.

The report did reveal that Red Dead Redemption 2 has already exceeded its predecessor's sales by almost 40 percent. Elsewhere, Black Ops 4 has held onto its top spot as the best-selling game of 2018.

It's interesting to see the three sports games, Madden NFL 19, National Basketball Association 2K19 and FIFA 19 all appear on the list despite releasing months prior. While Nintendo provided a combined sales figure, the NDP report lists both games as separate. Launch month sales of "Let's Go Pikachu" are the second highest in franchise history, trailing only the Nintendo 64 title "Pokémon Stadium".

Spending across video game hardware, software, accessories, and game cards was flat in November 2018 at $2.7 billion compared to the same time previous year, according to market research company The NPD Group. But, year-to-date sales in those categories exceeded $5.8 billion, a 9% increase over the same time period last year. The report did not indicate how mainline handheld entries compared in sales.

Hardware sales in November 2018 are up 3 percent, reaching $3.9 billion. As reported by Gamespot, market research firm The NPD Group's report of United States game sales in November says Bethesda's latest foray into the Wasteland was the fourth best-selling game last month.

All current-gen consoles (Switch, PS4, and Xbox One) sold over 1.3 million units sold during the month.
