Will Donald Trump change his mind on the Khashoggi killing?

On Wednesday, a group of USA senators defied the White House and introduced a resolution that would hold Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman accountable for the journalist's murder.

Penn is in Turkey working on a documentary about the slaying of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate on October 2 in Istanbul.

Despite significant evidence, the White House continues to deny the Saudi Royal Family had a role in Jamal Khashoggi's murder.

"You can't chop up a guy in a consulate, particularly who's an American resident who's an opinion journalist for The Washington Post, and expect us to do nothing about it", said Graham.

Rep. Chris Stewart defended President Donald Trump's dismissal of Central Intelligence Agency findings that Saudi Arabia's crown prince was complicit in the killing of a USA -based journalist, noting that America needs relationships with some countries it doesn't always agree with. Graham said Tuesday the difference between the Haspel briefing and the one last week was "like darkness and sunshine" in terms of shedding light on MBS's involvement in Khashoggi's killing.

Turkey has been seeking to extradite 18 suspects, including 15 members of the alleged assassination squad.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the order to kill came from the highest levels of the Saudi regime while insisting it was not from King Salman.

He went on to suggest that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Defense Secretary James Mattis were being "technical" "good soldiers" for the goals of the Trump administration.

The Saudi embassy in Washington confirmed that Khalid had returned to the US, NBC said, while a Saudi official said he was unable to attend the funeral because of a plane delay.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, who demanded the briefing with Haspel, said there is "zero chance" the crown prince wasn't involved in Khashoggi's death. Obviously that's a huge sign of progress, but an even more important takeaway is the fact that these senators say they feel purposefully mislead by a Republican administration, and have made a vote against its interests. Some 14 million people face starvation, and recent studies estimate 85,000 children under five have starved to death. "This guy's nuts", Graham said.

The Associated Press quoted Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker as saying that he believes if the crown prince were put on trial, a jury would find him guilty in "about 30 minutes".

"And the second thing is what is in the best interest of the United States and this is a very, very hard challenge because we have to, on one hand, hold them accountable, including the crown prince, for whatever action he may be involved with", the Utah congressman said.

On Nov. 28, the Senate voted 63 to 37 to advance a resolution that calls on the United States to end its military involvement in Yemen.
