XFL To Reveal Teams And Venues At Today's Press Conference

The XFL has unveiled the cities and venues for its eight-team league that will debut in 2020, the league announced Wednesday.

MetLife Stadium is already home to two professional football teams - the New York Giants and New York Jets - but beginning in 2020, a third will move onto the premises.

Teams will play in New York (MetLife Stadium), Washington D.C. (Audi Field), Los Angeles (StubHub Center), Houston (TDECU Stadium), St. Louis (The Dome at America's Center), Seattle (Century Link Field), Dallas (Globe Life Park) and Tampa Bay (Raymond James Stadium).

The NFL Cardinals played in St. Louis from 1960 to 1987 before relocating to Arizona.

"We are committed to being ingrained in the local community and extremely fortunate that our teams will have world-class facilities to call home", XFL CEO Oliver Luck said.

Billed as a rawer version of football, the original iteration had fewer rules regulating safety, and encouraged hard hits. Team names, logos, colors, and players will be announced in the coming weeks and months.

McMahon is once again betting on America's insatiable appetite for gridiron, playing a 10-game regular season followed by postseason and a championship game during the winter and spring months when the National Football League has concluded. The league lasted just one season. Or, as you may have heard us say, less stall and more ball. Luck promised a quicker pace of play with the overall goal of keeping games under three hours.

"The NFL and college football are as popular today as they've ever been, with tens of millions of fans engaging each and every week".

"We believe launching in February 2020 gives us the time to get the game, the fan experience and the partnerships right, and we believe we are well on our way", Luck said.

The XFL will face competition in the spring from the Alliance of American Football, which begins play in 2019.
