When the leaders of North and South Korea had their historic meeting in April, North Korea's Kim Jong-un asked for help with updating his country's railways, which he said were in an "embarrassing" state.

"The decline is mainly attributable to economic difficulties and stalled denuclearization talks (between the United States and North Korea)", the pollster said.

"We're getting along very well".

As officials work to arrange a second meeting between Trump and Kim, South Korea's Moon Jae-in relayed a message to reporters given to him by the U.S. president to pass on to the North's leader.

Trump said earlier in October that his meeting with Kim would be held after the midterm Congressional elections, and the venue of his second meeting with Kim had been narrowed down to "three or four" locations.

Moon has been quoted as calling the recent agreements "akin to a declaration to end the Korean War", and has also expressed the optimistic view that there would be no more war forthcoming between North and South Korea.

"I think we're going to do one fairly (soon) - into January, February, I think", Trump said in remarks carried by the AFP news agency.

Negotiations between the USA and North Korea on ending its nuclear program have appeared to stall in the months since Trump and Kim held a historic summit in Singapore in June.

South Korean soldiers open the gate as the rails which leads to North Korea is seen, inside the demilitarized zone separating the two Koreas in Paju.

Despite the warming ties, it remains unclear whether the North's leader Kim Jong Un will make his first-ever visit to the South this year, as Seoul is hoping.

Last November, a North Korean soldier was critically wounded in a jointly controlled area after he fled to the South amid a hail of bullets fired by his former comrades.

In September, the President said that he wanted to schedule a second summit with Kim.

Moon's press secretary Yoon Young-chan said the two leader think Kim's visit to Seoul summit "would provide additional momentum to their joint efforts to establish peace on the Korean peninsula".

Moon said he and Trump agreed during their meeting that Kim's trip to Seoul would play a "very positive role" in U.S.
