Samsung & Verizon to Launch 5G Smartphones Next Year

This would appear to be an expansion of in-display fingerprint technology that's expected to show up in next year's Galaxy S10 models, which would be its first phone with such a sensor.

6- Galaxy S10 would have a new Infinity-O display, the screen design with a hole for the selfie camera.

Unlike the current and previous Galaxy S devices, there's no longer a physical fingerprint sensor.

The most notable of these was said to be a display with curved edges. Instead, the author of the unofficial renders is understood to have been inspired by the Ice Blue variants of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ which Samsung brought to China less than a month ago. This phone has a larger gap to make room for two front-facing cameras, but it's also possible that's a single camera and some other sensor like a 3D face scanner or iris reader. Other novelties include One UI, a brand-new Android implementation from Samsung that's meant to replace Samsung Experience 9.5 (which itself succeeded TouchWiz several years back). The Galaxy S10 lineup might be the last flagships from Samsung to feature the headphone jack. This marks the first time a smartphone was used for 5G communication on a mobile carrier's commercial network and not under testing conditions.

This morning, the company announced that it will launch a 5G device from Samsung in the first half of 2019, powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon processor.

"We're proud to work alongside innovative partners like Verizon and Qualcomm Technologies to deliver a smartphone that will fundamentally transform how people work and play", said Justin Denison, Senior Vice President, Mobile Product Strategy and Marketing at Samsung Electronics America. It was rumoured that Samsung might put in up to 12GB of RAM, however, @onleaks reckons that the South Korean manufacturer will offer a more conservative 6GB and 8GB RAM options like the Galaxy Note9.
