Here's the reason Tumblr is missing from Apple's app store

In its statement, it said that all images uploaded to Tumblr pass through a database of "known child sexual abuse material". While the company didn't say whether it's purging NSFW blogs as part of its efforts to make sure its platform is free of child sexual abuse images, the timing coincides with its removal from the App Store.

Tumblr has been removed from Apple's iOS App Store after sick child pornography was found on the social networking service.

The most recent statement issued by Tumblr states that the company is "committed to helping build a safe online environment for all users, and we have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to media featuring child sexual exploitation and abuse".

Designers were asked to "publish your sticker app like any other app on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and users who download and install your app will be able to start sending those stickers right from within WhatsApp".

Tumblr has released a statement in a blog post, saying that they "are still working to resolve the issue with the iOS app".

It later explains that child porn content, which had not been previously flagged in the "industry database", was discovered by Tumblr officials during a "routine audit". Evidently all images uploaded to Tumblr are run against a database, with any images that match being automatically blocked. The content was immediately removed from the platform.

These common topics of conversation often reveal key information about a child, including: name, age/date of birth, school name and even their appearance. For that matter, they have collaborated with partners like the National Center for Missing and Exploited to monitor the content posted on the platform. That's exactly what happened over the weekend, however, when the microblogging social network app was wiped off the face of Apple's app repository.
