Tel Orfanos Survived Las Vegas Shooting, Killed at Borderline Bar

Americans woke up to another mass shooting tragedy on Thursday morning, this time in Thousand Oaks, California at a popular college student spot, Borderline Bar & Grill, which was hosting its weekly 18-and-over College Country Night.

Some men ran toward them and said the gunman was coming.

"He had flawless form", bar patron Teylor Whittler told Fox News.

Sheriff Dean also revealed Long was known to the department following a number of "minor events" in recent years.

Among the victims was Ventura County Sheriff's Sgt. Ron Helus, who was killed after responding to the scene of the attack.

"Obviously he had something going on in his head that would cause him to do something like this", Dean said.

The extended magazine Long allegedly used can not be legally purchased in California under a 2000 law.

Survivors describe hiding and fleeing after shots were heard, and a panicked rush to try and escape through windows which had been broken with chairs.

The police called in a team of mental health specialists who decided that Long did not qualify to be involuntarily detained for mental health evaluation under state law.

"It's a horrific scene in there", Mr Dean said in a press conference at a auto park. Can you do that for me?

He said he and others smashed their way out of the bar onto a balcony and then jumped down to safety.

The officer was on the phone to his wife when the emergency call came in, telling her: "Hey I gotta go handle a call".

Upon hearing the gunshots, he immediately grabbed people around him and brought them to the ground for cover.

Dean said Long was a Marine veteran, and said there was a chance he suffered from PTSD.

Matt Wennerstron, a 20-year-old college student, said the shooter apparently had a 10-15 round magazine in his gun.

Inside the bar, some people heard popping sounds and kept on dancing, thinking it was fireworks sound effects from the song, witnesses said. The Instagram account has been taken down but it was up for several hours after the shooting - until law enforcement became aware of it.

Ventura County Geoff Dean addresses the media about the mass shooting. The gunman exchanged gunfire with Helus, fatally wounding him.

A survivor of the Las Vegas shooting massacre past year was killed in Wednesday's shooting at a popular Southern California country bar.

Among those outside the hospital was Ellen Rivera, who said she had survived the October 2017 slaughter of 58 people at an outdoor concert in Las Vegas - the worst mass shooting in US history.

"Hope has sustained communities, very much like Thousand Oaks, through the exact same triages of mass shootings", said Andy Fox, the city's outgoing mayor.
