Nelson Campaign Sues To Stop Rejection Of Ballots Based On Voter Signatures

"Florida voted for Rick Scott!".

Circuit Judge Krista Marx on Friday ordered Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher to give the county canvassing board any duplicate ballots and any "overvoted" or "undervoted" ballots that have not yet been provided to the board by 10 a.m. Saturday.

Following Elias' call with reporters, the Scott campaign - which filed a lawsuit against Broward and Palm Beach counties over public records he claimed weren't provided to his campaign - shot back, calling today's legal filing by the Nelson campaign "desperate".

A judge ruled in favor Thursday of Gov. Rick Scott in a lawsuit over transparency in the election ballot counting in Broward County, Florida. "Just saw notice from @PBCounty that my absentee ballot wasn't counted due to "invalid signature' match", he wrote, adding that Palm Beach County's totals, therefore, deserve to be one higher for Nelson as well as Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum".

Scott now leads Nelson by only 15,000 votes, well under the threshold for an automatic recount to be triggered under state law.

His claim to have won the election was backed by President Trump who tweeted: "Law enforcement is looking into another big corruption scandal having to do with electoral fraud in Broward and Palm Beach".

The 93-year-old was among 509 voters in Lee County who had been given a provisional ballot.

Ashley Moody, Republican candidate for attorney general, received more than 52 percent of the Keys vote over her opponent Sean Shaw.

And Sen. Bill Nelson's recount lawyer predicted Thursday morning that the Democratic incumbent would emerge the victor over Gov. Rick Scott as ballots continue to be examined, particularly in heavily Democratic Palm Beach and Broward counties, in advance of an expected recount coming into play this weekend.

Nelson's campaign asserted that Scott was overstepping his bounds.

"There are a significant number of ballots that have not yet been counted", Elias said.

Her department's website said ballots cast on Election Day have been counted.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel said it analyzed voting patterns and found that of Broward ballots already counted, thousands made the unlikely choice of voting in lower-profile contests like for agriculture commissioner, but not for Senate, the marquee race on the ballot.

"I will not stand idly by as unethical liberals try to steal this election from the great people of Florida", Scott said.

Both Florida and Georgia were preparing for ballot recounts on Friday, as contentious races for the US Senate and state governorships descended into controversy amid Republicans' accusations of Democratic vote tampering, and counter-questions about potentially confusing ballot papers. The Associated Press has not called the race, and votes have continued to be counted this week.

DeSantis and Scott were initially believed to be the winners of their respective races.

"The goal here is to see that all the votes in Florida are counted and counted accurately", McLaughlin said in a statement.

Protesters held signs that said, "Brenda Snipes has to go", "stop creating votes" and "don't steal our election".

Marc Elias, a lawyer hired by Nelson, said he expects the margin to narrow further.

Kemp holds about a 63,000 vote lead, with 50.3 percent of nearly 4 million votes.
