Tesla to enter Indian market by 2019, says Elon Musk

Musk walked the full length of the two-mile long tunnel under Hawthorne, California, that his Boring Company built as a test of Musk's plan to revolutionize public transportation with tunnels and autonomous vehicles.

At the beginning of this year, however, the entrepreneur expressed the company's interest in the Indian market one more time. The tech entrepreneur tweeted about its plans for India in response to a query about the company's service capabilities outside North America. Early a year ago, Musk had said he hopes to launch the company's electric vehicles in India by the summer of 2017. Elon Musk said, "Would love to be in India". Regulators are looking at whether Tesla misled investors about its business. The second test launch of the rocket is now scheduled for 2019, although there's no word about what the payload will be.

Tesla and Musk, its billionaire chief executive, have pushed back strongly against a Wall Street Journal report last week that the FBI was pursuing a deepening criminal investigation into Tesla.

It's been nine months since we saw SpaceX's heroic space suit-clad mannequin cruising through space in a Tesla Roadster. In a follow-up tweet, he explained further, naming India, Africa and South America as markets for partial presence by end of 2019 with further expansion the following year.

After initially claiming that Tesla will come to India this summer, in February 2017, not much has developed in this regard since then.

The tweet, which Mr. Musk later said was a joke to amuse his goth girlfriend, caused the company stock to fall 14%.

In 2015, Musk hosted Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the Tesla factory in Fremont, California. Underground cars will also move to automatic platforms, which, according to the plan, will reach about 200 km/h.
