Activision Blizzard Stock Drops Following Diablo Drama At BlizzCon

Activision Blizzard Stock Drops Following Diablo Drama At BlizzCon

Diablo Immortal isn't the only new Diablo game now in development.

Allen Adham, executive producer and co-founder of Blizzard, stated that backlash was expected, as was with Diablo 3 console announcements and the revelation of Hearthstone, but not to that amount. Adham noted, "We have said that we have multiple Diablo teams working on multiple Diablo projects and that remains true, even after releasing [Diablo 3 for Nintendo] Switch and announcing Diablo: Immortal." .

Blizzard has stated that there are other Diablo-related projects in the pipeline, Immortal represents only a small part of the expanded Diablo universe. And it always will be. We have all of the latest news about this game, so continue reading to learn more. Others have called Immortal a rehashed version of Crusaders of Light, another mobile action-RPG by developer NetEase, Blizzard's partner on Immortal. Boom, all not-so-goodwill from the mobile game erased. Although Blizzard spoke about giving Diablo Immortal a try and attempting to reach a global audience, the rest of us don't care.

But for reasons unknown, the plan changed a couple of weeks prior to BlizzCon, and the Diablo 4 reveal was scrapped.

Kern says that gamers are not to blame for this and blames the issue on "bad PR handling".

"That being said, we knew our audience here desperately wants to see and hear about one thing in particular". Why Blizzard made a decision to close the opening ceremony with it I don't know - maybe a Diablo 4 reveal was pencilled in but removed in the run up to BlizzCon, or maybe NetEase has more influence than we realise - it was NetEase which brought WOW to China, don't forget, a move which ballooned the playerbase. Yet, the Diablo Immortal announcement was treated as though it's the only Diablo game on the horizon.

BlizzCon 2018 is nearly here and we've seen a lot of rumors flying around about our plans for Diablo at the show.

With the reaction to the Diablo: Immortal reveal being so negative despite its intriguing lore angle, it's understandable that many who seem to be violently opposed to the idea would want some form of explanation behind the reveal sequence. Whether or not you choose to fume at Blizzard more is your choice.
