Pres. Trump comments on allegedly false accusation against Justice Kavanaugh

Before Ford's testimony, Conservative lawyer Ed Whelan suggested in a unusual series of tweets that a classmate of Kavanaugh's who looked like him may have assaulted her. President Donald Trump also subscribed to the theory. "Where are the Dems on this?" he tweeted.

The Senate Judiciary Committee has referred a woman to the FBI after investigators reportedly found she had falsified her allegations about being assaulted by Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

By a vote of 50-48, the Senate gave a lifetime job to Kavanaugh, 53, after weeks of fierce debate over sexual violence, alcohol abuse and privilege that convulsed the nation just weeks before congressional elections on November 6.

Trump used the referral to cast doubts about the allegations that other women, including Christine Blasey Ford, have made against the now-Supreme Court justice.

Mr. Grassley has previously asked the Federal Bureau of Investigation to probe Julie Swetnick and her lawyer, anti-Trump crusader Michael Avenatti, for lying to Congress and obstructing.

Subsequently, Committee investigators began looking into Munro-Leighton's allegations. "The letter contained highly graphic sexual-assault accusations against Judge Kavanaugh".

"It was a made-up story", Trump said of Munro-Leighton's allegedly recanted allegations, amplifying an argument he made on Twitter earlier Saturday.

"Following the separate and extensive investigations by both the Committee and the FBI, there was no evidence to substantiate any of the claims of sexual assault made against Justice Kavanaugh".

In addition to the allegations made by Christine Ford, the committee investigated claims made by Deborah Ramirez, Julie Swetnick, and three anonymous accusers.

Democrats and lawyers for some of Kavanaugh's accusers have said committee Republicans inappropriately limited the investigation's scope.

Yesterday, the Senate Judiciary Committee asked the Justice Department to investigate a woman who admitted she made claims against Brett Kavanaugh during the committee investigation as a "ploy". Kavanaugh unequivocally denied all the claims and accusations. "I am not Jane Doe. but I did read Jane Doe's letter".

Committee investigators spoke with 45 individuals and took 25 written statements, according to the 414-page summary report. "Under questioning by Committee investigators, Ms. Munro-Leighton admitted - contrary to her prior claims - that she had not been sexually assaulted by Judge Kavanaugh and was not the author of the original "Jane Doe" letter". Jon Tester, who is up for reelection, and his vote against Kavanaugh's confirmation. "When are they going to say what happened?"
