IN children struck, killed by truck at bus stop

Three elementary school-aged children were killed and one child was seriously injured when they were hit at a school bus stop in Rochester Tuesday morning. The fourth child, 11-year-old Maverik Lowe was flown, via Samaritan Helicopter, to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

The three children who died are from the same family.

Three children - identified as twin brothers Xzavier and Mason Ingle, 6, and Alivia Stahl, 9, their sister - were killed in the crash, state police said. He was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital.

Tony Slocum says the siblings and an 11-year-old boy were struck about 7 a.m. Tuesday, before sunrise, as they were crossing a two-lane road near Rochester to board a Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. bus. On Tuesday afternoon police said in an update that the injured boy was "in surgery with multiple broken bones and internal injuries".

Police confirmed that three other children were on board the bus at the time. "He activated the buses' stop arm and exterior lighting, as he was picking up children from the west side of the road", the news release said.

"Our school corporation has suffered a tragedy this morning". It urged "the community to come together to pray for the families". He urged IN residents to send their "deepest prayers for the strength needed to endure such a time".

"I just can't imagine the pain that family is going through", he said, according to NBC Chicago.

"I walked up to one of tenants in the trailer park". She said her son was hit in the past while pulling into the driveway.
