Eagles trade for Lions WR Golden Tate for third-round pick

Based on a tweet he sent out Tuesday afternoon, Tate seems pretty psyched to be coming to Philadelphia.

The Detroit Lions traded wide receiver Golden Tate to the Philadelphia Eagles ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline for a third-round draft pick, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. "Philly Philly let's get it!"

How the Lions sell this trade will be interesting, as they're only a game out of first place, have no clear candidate to step up into the slot WR role and there was still a sense they could re-sign him after the season.

Originally drafted late in the second round (60th overall) in the 2010 draft, Tate played four seasons for the Seahawks, averaging 41 receptions, 549 yards, and almost four touchdowns per year.

When news of the trade broke, Tate and some of his new teammates, including quarterback Carson Wentz, jumped on Twitter to show how excited they were about the deal.

Tate has 44 catches for 517 yards and three touchdowns this season.

As the National Football League trade deadline closes in, the Philadelphia Eagles have swung a deal to bolster their receiving corps. The 30-year-old has caught 581 passes for 6,936 yards and 37 touchdowns in 129 career regular-season games.
