Saudi royals meet with slain writer’s relatives

Saudi Arabia's cabinet on Tuesday said it would hold accountable all those behind the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi "no matter who they may be".

Mnuchin canceled his plans to attend a three-day investment conference hosted by Saudi Arabia beginning on Tuesday, but said he would meet the crown prince to discuss counterterrorism efforts.

The images, released by the Saudi Press Agency, were accompanied by a statement claiming Salah Khashoggi "expressed [his] great thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for their consolation on the death of the deceased". We have people over in Saudi Arabia now.

Erdogan made the remarks in a much-anticipated speech about Khashoggi's killing - remarks that he timed to coincide with Saudi Arabia's high-profile Future Investment Initiative summit, often called "Davos in the Desert".

Khashoggi went to the consulate that day on an administrative errand, after consular employees told him that paperwork he needed for his marriage would be ready October 2, his family and friends said. "For 50 years we can not live with a crown prince who is an enemy of Turkey", said Selvi.

Saudi Arabia, which for weeks maintained Khashoggi had left the consulate, on Saturday acknowledged he had been killed there in a "fistfight".

"I want to tell all our foreign guests that the awful acts reported in recent weeks are alien to our culture; I'm sure that we will emerge stronger".

Body parts of slain Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi have reportedly been found and reveal "grisly detail" of how his face was disfigured.

Trump heralded Saudi Arabia's purchase of $110 billion worth of USA arms in 2017, though experts say that figure is inflated and some parts of the deal appear to still be up in the air.

The Khashoggi case has caused global outrage and frayed political and business ties between Western powers and United States ally Saudi Arabia, the world's No.1 oil exporter.

The case has shone the spotlight on the crown prince, who was credited with reforms including giving women the right to drive but is now accused of having ordered Khashoggi's murder - a claim Riyadh denies.

Erdogan called for Saudi Arabia to share facts about the case; he also suggested the suspects should be tried in Turkey. Instead, much of what he said confirmed reports and leaks citing anonymous officials in the days since the journalist walked into the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

According to Riyadh, 18 people have been arrested over their involvement in the incident.

Trump also said there's no evidence bin Salman knew about the plot to kill Khashoggi.

A tough critic of the crown prince, Khashoggi, 59, disappeared after he entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2 to obtain a document for his upcoming marriage.

"As we all know these are hard days for us in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia", Energy Minister Khalid Al-Falih told attendees seated in an ornate hall during the opening of the conference in Riyadh.
