Pakistan beat Australia in second Test, win series

Medium pacer Mohammad Abbas, who took his maiden ten-wicket haul in a match to fire Pakistan to a 373-run win over Australia in the second Test, returned to the country to a hero's welcome on Saturday.

This becomes Australia's heaviest defeat against Pakistan, beating the 356-run hammering at this same venue four years ago.

Despite fighting back to claim a draw in the first Test of the two-Test series, Australia had no reply to the Pakistan bowling attack on Friday.

Abbas finished the series with 17 wickets in two matches and was named man of the match and man of the series for his exploits.

The former England captain may have scored nearly 8,000 global runs and 18 Test centuries, but he says Abbas is the type of bowler that would make him "poop his pants".

Abbas completed match figures of 10-95 after backing up his first-inning 5-44 with 5-62 second time around as Australia - shorn of first-Test hero Usman Khawaja due to a knee injury - were skittled for 164 chasing a notional 538 for victory. Abbas then had Mitchell Marsh lbw on 5 when Pakistan successfully went for a video referral against umpire Richard Illingworth's not out decision.

"No doubt he's highly skilled and doesn't miss the spot too much".

Rookie batsman Marnus Labuschagne fought grimly in just his second Test to top- score with 43 before becoming the fifth Abbas victim for the day. Fielder Mitchell Starc retrieved the ball to wicketkeeper Tim Paine, who removed the bails with an oblivious Azhar stranded well short of his crease.

The left-arm seamer quickly threw the ball towards wicket keeper Tim Paine, who took down the stumps to dismiss Azhar Ali.

In freaky scenes early on day three in Abu Dhabi, Azhar convened mid-pitch with Asad Shafiq after an edge to Peter Siddle which flew past gully and seemed destined for the boundary.
