Woman left after dropping boy off on doorstep of wrong house

She's holding a couple of bags in her other hand.

The woman, who was not identified but was seen on doorbell video frantically ringing a home's doorbell and then running away from a child, could be charged with felony child abandonment. When the child did not turn up at the father's house he assumed the mother changed her mind. This all happened at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, October 17. The auto she fled in was white.

"Had she waited just seven seconds, the home owner would have opened the door and maybe would've started a conversation, dialogue to direct her to the correct house to drop the child off", Spencer said.

About 12 hours after the incident unfolded, deputies said they found his father.

Deputies with the Montgomery County, TX, Sheriff's Office said a 911 caller heard a knock at her door Wednesday and when she went to answer, found the abandoned child. Authorities say it will be up to CPS on if the child will be returned to his parents. An investigation is ongoing. The woman is believed to have been tasked with taking care of the boy while his mother was in a hospital, the Houston Chronicle reported.

When Deputies arrived they viewed video surveillance and observed a black female arrive at the residence in a white passenger vehicle. The suspect in the video was observed running toward the front door of the residence while lifting the child in the air by one arm.

Originally, the identity of the woman and child were unknown.

The boy is now in good spirits and has been placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.

But the 2-year-old wasn't dropped off in the afternoon, and the father eventually left his house. The female in the video then left location without verifying anyone was home or who she was releasing the child too. Child Protective Services responded to the scene and took custody of the child and are assisting in identifying the child's family.
