Branson says Virgin Galactic to launch space flight 'within weeks'

'We will be in space with people not too long after that so we have got a very, very exciting couple of months ahead'.

The company's shuttles will be capable of leaving the earth's orbit soon and the billionaire will be on one of them in just a few months, with commercial passenger flights launching soon after. "Our mission is to make space travel as affordable and safe as possible", he said. "And then we will be in space with myself in months and not years", Branson told CNBC.

The multi-millionaire admitted earlier this year that the number of spurious claims he has made about Virgin Galactic flight dates was "embarrassing".

While Sir Richard says that he will have humans in space next year, Mr Musk has set a target of 2030 to get people to Mars, with the first people there being tasked with beginning to build a new civilisation.

Virgin Galactic says its spacecraft will take passengers 68 miles above the Earth's surface for a price of $250,000. But the firm's plans have been delayed by numerous setbacks and the loss of the company's previous space plane in a 2014 accident that killed co-pilot Michael Alsbury. The upper atmosphere is generally regarded to give way to space at an altitude of 62 miles (100km), almost twice the altitude achieved in the July test flight.

"For space travel, the demand will far outstrip supply".

"Taking care of the mental health of staff, customers, and even the wider community should be a priority for any business", Branson said. In the Asia-Pacific, there are seven clubs each in Thailand and Australia. Branson has not yet officially expanded on these comments.

"For Australia, Thailand and Singapore, there's room for expansion".

Having overseen approximately 500 companies, Branson, who is known for his charisma and eccentric behaviors, has an estimated net worth of $5 billion. "I love life, I love people, I love learning, and I love the variety of what I do", said the man who describes himself on his Twitter profile as a "tie-loathing adventurer, philanthropist and troublemaker who believes in turning ideas into reality".
