Giuliani Lashes Out At Those Who Criticize Trump in Woodward's Book

What comes through most clearly to me is the incredible amount of contempt flying in all directions. The Washington Post, where Woodward is an associate editor, reported Tuesday on the book, revealing some of the highlights.

Trump called it all a "hoax" and then went on a "30-minute rant", Woodward said.

Revelations featured in the book include Defense Secretary Jim Matthis reportedly describing Trump as having the understanding of "a fifth- or sixth-grader" after a National Security Council meeting where the president questioned why the American government was spending money on a military presence on the Korean Peninsula. "He's gone off the rails. Democrats and their allies in the media understand the president's policies are working and with success like this, no one can beat him in 2020 - not even close".

"The idea I ever called the president an idiot is not true", he said.

Unsurprisingly, Trump's political opposition faces similar ire. In once instance, he told Porter to ignore former chief of staff Reince Priebus because he was "like a little rat", and in another, he complained former national security adviser H.R. McMaster dressed in cheap suits, "like a beer salesman".

Mr. Trump quickly responded, telling The Daily Caller, "it's just another bad book". "Mr. President, I'm afraid I just can't help you". "You're past your prime".

Details from the book were published by the Washington Post on Tuesday. This is no longer a White House.

In one instance, former chief economic adviser Gary Cohn removed from Trump's desk a letter that would have withdrawn the United States from a trade arrangement with South Korea.

The book also alleges that Kelly called Trump an "idiot". Trump said "This is treason" and Cohn backed down. "Got to protect the country", Cohn told a colleague.

The book said Dowd and another Trump lawyer met Mueller and his deputy in the special counsel's office, where Trump's attorneys re-enacted the President's January practice session.

"It's really too bad, because nobody told me about it, and I would've loved to have spoken to you", Trump reportedly told the journalist. "That I can tell you.".

Dowd later pleaded with Trump directly: "Don't testify".

He is openly longing to fire Attorney General Jeff Sessions for failing to quash the Russian Federation investigation, even though Sessions has in every other respect done Trump's bidding to the letter. He's this dumb Southerner ...

Needless to say, even The Washington Post's preview of Fear: Trump in the White House is enough to simultaneously induce shudders and reasonable fear for the future of this country. "We're doing this in order to prevent World War III", Mattis reportedly told him, but the real fireworks came out of military official's mouth after the meeting. He regards them with similar disdain, insulting and mocking them behind their backs or to their faces.

Unlike previous books about the Trump White House, Mr Wood- ward's work was extensively researched with dozens of tape interviews with sources, making it harder for the President to dispute the claims.

But it doesn't stop at the walls of the West Wing, which is why I want to focus on what Trump said about Sessions.
