Dershowitz: 'Greatest Risk' to Trump Is From NY Prosecutors, Not Mueller Probe

Although Trump cannot be indicted as a sitting president, his businesses can be, Dershowitz warned.

The AP reported Thursday that the tabloid kept a safe containing documents about hush-money payments and damaging stories it killed as part of its cozy relationship with Trump leading up to the 2016 presidential election.

Trump's lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, caused a stir last week when he told The Washington Post that Trump had sought his advice on the possibility of granting a pardon to former campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

"I think [Trump] has constitutional defenses to the investigation being conducted by Mueller", into Russian interference in the 2016 election, said Dershowitz, who is author of the book, "The Case Against Impeaching Trump". "I'm not troubled by his comments".

Trump Organization chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg is the latest person in President Trump's orbit to have been granted immunity in the investigation surrounding payments made to women who alleged that they had affairs with Trump.

Trump's strongest supporters are taking the view that, absent evidence of collusion with Russian Federation to influence the 2016 election, there is just no case for impeachment.

The plea discussions occurred as a Virginia jury was spending four days deliberating tax and bank fraud charges against Mr. Manafort, the people said.

Trump praised his former campaign chairman as "a fearless man" for not cooperating with investigators - as aides speculated about Trump possibly considering a pardon.

The White House did not immediately respond to HuffPost's request to clarify which poll Trump was quoting, though HuffPost did not find any recent polls that indicate a 52 percent approval rating. "And they're looking very, very hard", Dershowitz said. These individuals may spell the beginning of the end of the Trump presidency, and seem to have Trump remaining silent - for now.

But Democratic leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi said that unless other information emerges, impeaching Trump is "not a priority" for Democrats if they regain control of the House this fall.

The Post reports that Davis is now saying his statements "should have been more clear" and that he does not know whether or not if Cohen has any information.

Lanny Davis, an attorney for Michael Cohen, is backtracking from his stunning claim that President Donald Trump had advance knowledge of Russian hacking efforts.

Former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti noted that immunity deals such as the one granted to Pecker and Weisselberg typically mean there will be more cooperation down the road.

The federal prosecutors Cohen struck a deal with said they had evidence corroborating Cohen's admissions, stemming from records obtained from him that included audio tapes, texts, phone records, emails, witnesses with knowledge of the transactions, and records from The National Enquirer.

Working alongside Trump and Trump's three adult children - Don Jr., Ivanka, Eric - in Trump Tower, Cohen took on a number of roles for the developer, including emissary for projects in foreign capitals and enforcer of Trump's will. "So, I think the Southern District is the greatest threat".
