'Truth isn't truth', says Trump lawyer

"The meeting was originally for the goal of getting information about, about Clinton", Giuliani said Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press".

He pleaded guilty to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is cooperating with Mueller's probe.

The latest: Rudy Giuliani's declaration Sunday that "truth isn't truth", which is mind-numbingly WTF and yet somehow flawless for our post-"fake news" era.

Speaking on the NBC show "Meet the Press", Giuliani rejected the claim Trump's legal team was stalling a request by special counsel Robert Mueller to interview the U.S. president. "Trump says I didn't tell them, and the other guy says that he did say it". Giuliani said Mueller is "desperate"' to find something to charge Trump with, and that "I'm not going to be rushed into having him testify so that he gets trapped into perjury". "And when you tell me that, you know, he should testify because he is going to tell the truth and he shouldn't worry, that's so silly because it's somebody's version of the truth, not the truth".

"If you're just a genius, tell me what the truth is!"

Rudy Giuliiani appeared this morning on Meet the Press on behalf of President Trump.

"No, no, it isn't truth", Giuliani said.

Todd's wry prediction was, of course, immediately proven right. "I don't read minds on that front". "Not even close", Cuomo said of Trump.

Giuliani, speaking on Fox News, repeated his concern about investigators' potential approach to a Trump interview. "I mean, I didn't leak it to The Times and Jay Sekulow didn't leak it to The Times, the president sure as heck didn't, so who could it be?" He would've done it a long time ago if he was going to do it.

He told the Washington Post in May that Mr Mueller and his team "may have a different version of the truth than we do".

"The failing nytimes wrote a Fake piece today implying that because White House Councel Don McGahn was giving hours of testimony to the Special Councel, he must be a John Dean type 'RAT, '" Mr Trump wrote, misspelling the word "counsel".

When talking about evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian agents, Guiliani complained that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was dragging out his investigation. "The president is at the center of everything that he's investigating, and he hasn't testified or given an interview yet at all".

Mr Giuliani's comments came as Mr Trump insisted that his White House counsel was not a "RAT" like the Watergate-era White House attorney who turned on Richard Nixon, and he blasted the ongoing Russian Federation investigation as "McCarthyism".
