OSU President: Urban Meyer Probe "Will Be Finished When It's Finished"

OSU President: Urban Meyer Probe

Zach Smith had sex toys delivered to him at Ohio State's football headquarters in 2015, according to a report Friday, raising more questions about the former assistant coach's conduct while employed there just as the university prepares to conclude its investigation of the program and head coach Urban Meyer. "Another photo of Smith's penis includes a White House bathroom towel featuring the Seal of the President of the United States".

The Buckeyes play their first game of the 2018 football season on September 1.

Ohio State president Michael Drake will reveal the university's decision next week after the investigators share a report of their findings with the Board of Trustees. Smith's attorney, Brad Koffel, told Stadium that he had "no idea" about the photos and sex paraphernalia.

Meyer was placed on administrative leave August 1, shortly after a second report from McMurphy surfaced alleging that Meyer was aware of multiple alleged domestic violence incidents involving Smith.

That same week, Meyer was asked at Big Ten Media Days about the allegations, and Meyer denied knowing anything about the 2015 incident in which police were called to the Smiths' suburban Columbus, Ohio, home. He later retracted that statement and said he followed proper protocol in reporting the issue when it occurred in October 2015.

"There is a great deal of interest in this investigation", Drake said Thursday, via ESPN. I've been doing my best possible job to keep an open mind. It looked like he was gone early, it doesn't look like he is now - and I say that just based on having watched college football and understanding the cynical nature of it.

Ohio State's Board of Trustees had formed a special, independent working group to direct this investigation. A couple of days later, McMurphy produced text messages from Courtney Smith that showed Meyer's wife knew about the allegations in 2015. Former Ohio House Speaker Jo Ann Davidson serves as chair of the working group. Zach Smith was arrested in 2009 for allegedly abusing Courtney Smith while she was pregnant, but she ultimately decided not to press charges, Stadium's Brett McMurphy reported.

Courtney Smith has contended she believed Urban Meyer knew all along about the allegations she made regarding abuse from Zach.
