Neil Warnock: Newcastle United penalty miss 'was poetic justice'

Kenedy wasted the chance to give 10-man Newcastle the three points in the sixth minute of injury time, his weak attempt pushed out by Cardiff goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.

Newcastle rode their luck at times and there could be added concern for them after Kenedy appeared to kick out at Cardiff's Spanish midfielder Victor Camarasa in the first half.

Kenedy had an effort saved by Etheridge but Cardiff soon threatened again when Sol Bamba's header from a corner was scrambled clear.

Cardiff were on top when Newcastle substitute Isaac Hayden was shown a straight red card after 65 minutes.

The Bluebirds nearly lost their second consecutive game in the league when club captain Sean Morrison conceded a penalty after he handled Yoshinori Muto's cross.

"I've not seen Hayden's challenge on Murphy back yet".

Newcastle replied nearly instantly with a chance of their own.

And as part of the trial, all Bluebirds Season Ticket Holders will also be entitled to 30 minutes free cycling per trip on matchdays for the first five weekend home matches of the season (Newcastle United, Arsenal, Manchester City, Burnley and Fulham).

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy was sent off during Leicester's win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday after a unsafe challenge on right-back Matt Doherty. That's a bad tackle on Josh Murphy.

One more interesting subplot could be the meeting of two twins across the divide; Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy signed from Norwich City last summer, a year before his brother Josh left Carrow Road for Cardiff.

Leicester City were reduced to 10-men on the hour mark when Jamie Vardy was sent off for a bookable offence.

"It was a poor penalty, he's not happy he missed a good chance", the Spaniard told BBC's Match of the Day.
