The key members of Barcelona's squad for next season have been revealed and there's a small detail that fans and board members are going to love: All of them came through the ranks at La Masia.

The gifted midfielder left the Camp Nou after a stunning career for Japan, linking up with Vissel Kobe on a three year contract, a move which surprised many especially as he'd been mentioned as a potential signing for Manchester City.

Argentine captain, Lionel Messi will captain Barcelona this season with Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique acting as his lieutenants.

Messi, who has been at Barcelona since the age of 13, is one of four players to be given new responsibilities by the Catalan club.

The five-time Ballon d'Or victor will be aiming to lift his first trophy as captain on Sunday when Ernesto Valverde's side take on Sevilla in the Spanish Supercopa. Pique and Roberto beat out Ter Stegen and Rakitic, two players who were keen to be part of the group.

Of the quartet Roberto is the youngest having played his first game, also coming during Guardiola's reign, in 2010 but that still makes him an elder statesman.

It is the first time since the 2014/2015 season that all the club's four captains have come through the club's famous La Masia youth academy.
