Busy Everton end transfer deadline day satisfied thanks to arrivals from Barcelona

Mina only joined Barca in January from Brazilian side Palmeiras, but failed to truly impress before his stock greatly rose over the summer after impressing for Colombia at the 2018 World Cup.

Everton were desparate for a solid center-back after Ashley Williams moved to Stoke City and used their strong connections with Barcelona to secure the deal.

Manchester United and Lyon had both tracked Colombia worldwide Mina, who signed a five-year deal after Barca sanctioned his £27.2 million sale. To that end, several options were considered, and while Mina didn't exactly suffice the latter criteria, he was still a viable target to bolster the defence.

"The manager made me feel confident about playing here". With Manchester United backing off his chase, Mina looked set to join Everton, who have done exactly that.

Everton brought in three new faces on the final day of the Premier League transfer window, swooping for Brazilian midfielder Bernard from Shakhtar Donetsk and Barcelona players Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes.

Mina had always been linked with a move away from Barcelona this summer with the club's purchases of non-EU players in Malcom, Arthur and Arturo Vidal filling their quote per La Liga's rules.

Upon joining Everton, Mina told evertontv, "It is important that the club want to fight for something". A loan move for Chelsea's Kurt Zouma was also being worked on after a deal sheet was submitted to the Premier League for the defender. This is why I am here. When I found out about this opportunity and what the manager wanted out of me I was happy.
