Borna Barisic: Rangers sign Croatian defender on four-year deal

The Championship club are seeking a replacement for Derby-bound £5m man Martyn Waghorn.

"It is maybe not a bad thing that the Rangers game is coming up so fast".

'We have had offers from four clubs, Rangers, Panathinaikos, Red Star in France and Waasland-Beveren, ' said Drasko Ilic.

Croatia global Borna Barisic is having a medical at Rangers on Monday ahead of a potential transfer from Osijek, according to Sky sources.

The Osijek captain, who scored against Steven Gerrard's side in Europa League qualifying, completed his move to Rangers on Tuesday for a fee believed to be around £2million.

The 25-year-old, who has won three caps, becomes the 11th player signed by Gerrard since taking over this summer.

He was included in the initial 32-man pool for this summer's World Cup in Russian Federation, but narrowly missed out on the final 23-man squad as Croatia, of course, made it all the way to the final.

Gers fans are looking forward to watching their new man in action with many expecting him to be a big signing, as they go in search of closing the gap on arch rivals Celtic over the course of the campaign.

Barisic admitted he was blown away by the "crazy" atmosphere at Ibrox when a 1-1 draw gave Rangers a 2-1 aggregate win and set up a third-round qualifier against Maribor, who they play at home in the first leg on Thursday.
