"Any time that your university is mentioned in less than glowing terms, as the president of the university, it's disappointing", Bendapudi said Thursday.

Schnatter resigned from the UofL Board of Trustees Wednesday after admitting that he said the N-word in a conference call created to prevent public relations disasters.

Fearing more losses, top executives made a decision to remove Schnatter from all marketing materials, a source said on Friday, although they did not give any more details about how long this would take to achieve. Schnatter has been in the middle of a controversy after admitting to using a racial slur during a conference call. But, "I said it, and it's wrong", he said. Similarly, business programs funded by Schnatter at the University of Kentucky have cut ties with him.

Here are statements from the school and the John Schnatter Foundation. The Charles Koch Foundation contributed $4 million to help start the center.

Barron Harvey, dean of Howard University's business school, said this is a chance for the company to retool its marketing strategy so it's not so tied to one person. It also plans to launch a listening tour and hire an outside auditor on matters of inclusion, it said.

In a statement on Wednesday, the company said it condemned "racism and any insensitive language".

Bendapudi also said that despite Schnatter's slip, she still believes Papa John's remains a company in good standing in the Louisville community.

Schnatter stepped down as CEO past year after blaming slowing sales growth on the outcry surrounding football players kneeling during the national anthem.

The Papa John's name, however, will remain. He resigned as CEO soon after.

When the news of the call broke this week, shares in the pizza chain plummeted by 5.9 per cent, wiping $96.2million off its market value, and Schnatter announced he would resign as chairman. Still, an image of Schnatter, the "John" of "Papa John's", appears on a wide range of Papa John's materials, including its logo and pizza boxes. They ended little changed Friday. The Kansas City Royals also stepped away from Papa John's, as did the Miami Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays.

First reported by The Dallas Morning News on Friday, the Rangers immediately suspended its "RANGERS7" promotion that gives fans half off an order the day after the team scores seven or more runs in a game. He said in a November conference call to announce third-quarter earnings that protests had hurt the company's stock prices and that the National Football League was responsible for not doing more to stop protests.
