Lewandowski mocks migrant girl with Down syndrome: 'Wah wah'

Earlier Tuesday, a Mexican official said one of those children was a 10-year-old girl with Down syndrome.

Lewandowski flatly rejected that notion and said that the "American people" owed an apology to people who were "killed by illegal aliens".

Corey Lewandowski, campaign manager for Donald Trump, leaves the Four Seasons Hotel after a meeting with Trump and Republican donors, June 9, 2016 in New York City.

Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski speaks as President Donald Trump looks on during a rally at Total Sports Park in Washington, Michigan, on April 28, 2018.

When another Fox panelist mentioned that story, Lewandowski responded with "Wah wah".

The girl's case was originally highlighted by Mexico's Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray in an interview with CNN.

"How dare you. How absolutely dare you, sir", an outraged Petkanas replied, after Lewandowski's "womp womp" response, which may be seen in the video below. Videgaray said the girl had been travelling with her mother and brother when the children were separated from their mother by border police.

According to the Washington Post, the girl in question was sent to a Texas shelter even though Mexican authorities said that her father, a legal USA resident, lived an hour away down the highway.

He said that the Mexican government was working to have the girl released so she can be reunited with her father, who is a legal USA resident.

Sessions "zero tolerance" policy of arresting and criminally charging anyone who crosses the border illegally has led to an uptick in the separation of children and parents.
