Engine catches fire on Saudi Arabia's team plane

"It was a small fire in one of the engines, the right engine, but the plane landed safely". The tournament was organized as a preparatory one for India's campaign at the AFC Asian Cup 2019 in January but due to the poor level of the opposition players, the whole goal of the Cup was defeated.

Saudi Arabia's official team plane caught fire in mid air as they travelled to their next World Cup match.

The shaken players filmed themselves leaving the plane - a Russian Airlines Airbus A319-100 - shortly after landing.

Thankfully, no one was hurt in the terrifying incident and the Saudi Arabian team were spotted calmly disembarking the plane after touching down at their destination.

They are expected to struggle again on Wednesday, with Uruguay eyeing up a second win after securing a late 1-0 victory over Morocco in their first game.

The aircraft landed with both of its engines working and the passengers disembarked normally, the agency's statement said. Defeat against Uruguay would nearly certainly see them eliminated from the competition, although they also play against Egypt in their final group game.

The Saudis were beaten 5-0 by Russian Federation in the World Cup opener in Moscow last week.
