Dennis Rodman Thanks Eddie Vedder From Trump/Kim Jong Un Summit

Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong said that the joint statement "is a crucial first move in the long journey towards lasting peace and stability on a denuclearised Korean Peninsula, which would benefit our region and the rest of the world".

Kim Jong-un went with a plan, gave little and left with plenty: bolstered status and diplomatic leverage, lavish praise from the US president, the promise of an end to US-South Korean military drills - and, surely, a growing confidence that North Korea is doing well at this game.

Pyongyang also reaffirmed its commitment to the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula, while the US pledged to provide security guarantees.

Mr Kim, whose country is subject to a broad range of global sanctions over its illegal weapons program, said he and Mr Trump had "decided to leave the past behind".

Rodman traveled to Singapore ahead of the summit, but Trump, who knows Rodman from his time on Celebrity Apprentice, said that Rodman is a "nice guy" but not invited to the meeting in an official capacity. In March, the North Korean leader also made a trip to Beijing.

American and North Korean diplomats were, however, struggling to bridge gaps on some of the most basic issues dividing the two sides, including the terms and timing under which the North would surrender its nuclear arsenal. He's a amusing guy, he's very smart, he's a great negotiator.

Trump, reiterating his trust of Kim, said: "I do trust him, yeah".

The signatures of President Donald Trump and North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un are seen on a document held up by Trump following a signing ceremony during their U.S.

The UN said in 2014 that North Korea committed "systematic, widespread and grave violations of human rights". "That is exactly the formation that the Chinese have asked for over the course of the past year, and we said absolutely not", Bremmer said.

Images of Trump and Kim were prominent throughout the trailer, which promised a brighter future if North Korea opened its arms to Western influences by way of nuclear disarmament.

After the summit, Trump said the process of repatriating remains would begin immediately. North Korean and United States journalists argued and elbowed one another for almost 20 minutes jostling for position to capture the moment when Trump and Kim entered the room.

Later, after the joint signing, Kim said that "the world will see a major change". If Kim ever feared that Trump might order a preemptive military strike, those worries have subsided.
