Trump hopes summit with N. Korea will be 'start of something big'

United States officials believe Kim Jong Un's decision to replace the three officials may have been driven by his concerns the three were in positions to corruptly take advantage of outside investment coming into North Korea.

The announcement was made in the government's online gazette.

US President Donald Trump said that preparations for the June 12 summit meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un are moving along very well. Fittingly, "sentosa" is a Malay word meaning piece and tranquillity. Abe said he will show at the G-7 summit his full backing for Trump on North Korea, but he will urge everyone to take leadership in promoting free and fair trade rather than escalating disputes.

The Southeast Asian city-state set to host the summit has boosted security across the island including planning deployment of the Gurkhas elite warrior tribesman of Nepal and now suspending the airspace temporarily.

Dr Graham Ong-Webb of the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies was quoted as saying that it appears to be an attempt to secure the waters of the coastline. "We have had teams negotiating not only in the Demilitarised Zone every day. meetings are taking place in Singapore as well".

"She will not attend the G7 and there are no plans for her to travel to Singapore at this time", Grisham told AP.

The historic meeting will be held at the Capella Hotel, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders tweeted.

Schumer expressed hope that next week's high-level summit with North Korea would be successful, adding that Trump had to secure a good deal.

Madden said any similar attempt to wrest power during the North Korean leader's absence was unlikely, pointing to Kim's previous trips to Beijing and Dalian in China, which went off without a hitch. "We'll see what happens. It'll be a very important couple of days".

Ms Sanders described the letter from Mr Kim to Mr Trump, personally delivered by top North Korean official Kim Yong-chol on Friday, as "interesting" but wouldn't comment on its contents.

After meeting Kim Yong Chol, Trump said that the U.S. was "not going to spend" and that neighbouring countries - South Korea, Japan and China - should be ready to shoulder the costs.

The softening of Trump's rhetoric was more palpable after he received North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's special envoy at the White House last week.
