Kate Spade 'Obsessed' Over Robin Williams' Death

As news of the death of beloved designer Kate Spade sinks in, her husband has released an emotional and substantial statement about his wife of 35 years.

She walked away from the company in 2007, a year after it was acquired from the Neiman Marcus Group for $125 million (then known as Liz Claiborne Inc.).

Spade is believed to have hanged herself with a red scarf tied to her bedroom doorknob, according to The New York Times, which reported that she'd left a note.

Kate Spade died of an apparent suicide earlier this week, and since the news broke, people everywhere have shared their love for Kate Spade and her designs on social media.

"There was no indication and no warning that she would do this", he said.

Coach, now known as Tapestry, bought the Kate Spade brand past year for $2.4 billion.

Reta says she'd tried to get Kate to enter a facility for treatment: "I'd flown out to Napa and NYC several times in the past 3-4 years to help her to get the treatment she needed (inpatient hospitalization)".

Kate Spade's handbags feature vibrant colors and eye-catching polka dots, just as smile-inducing as the quirky quotes - "bright like glitter, and bubbly like Champagne" - that adorn the walls of the fashion designer's stores.

Kate Spade's husband has spoken out for the first time since his wife's death by suicide.

"I was Kate Brosnahan, and I kept coming up with these names, and Andy kept saying 'Kate Spade" because we were 50-50 partners", she told NPR.

Mr Brosnahan added that the iconic designer had "been taking some pills, which I advised her not to take", and said that he was aware that his most famous of six children had been having mental health issues. "I would never do that, ' and I believed her". Although he said he and his sister often spoke several times a day, it sometimes became hard to get her on the phone. "What she created will always be a foundation in the industry. We would talk a lot about it and end up laughing", she said. They returned to the fashion world in 2016 by founding Frances Valentine, which was partly named after Frances Beatrice. "She liked the business".

"We were best friends trying to work through our problems in the best way we knew how", he explains.
