Apple leaks macOS 10.14 dark mode, Xcode 10

Also visible is an Apple News icon in the dock, as now found in iOS, which all-but-confirms that Apple is porting its Apple News app over the Mac in desktop form.

Apple WWDC 2018: macOS 10.14 will sport a new revamped dark mode. The OS is very clearly sporting a fresh new dark theme, presumably a toggle-able setting, with the dark UI affecting all application chrome. The current semi-dark mode that is accessible to Mac fans and it can be enabled by heading over to System Preferences - General - "Use dark menu bar and dock".

This leak was accidentally discovered when Steve Troughton-Smith‏, who is a developer, found a video preview of development software that shows to be running in a Dark Mode.

And finally, the video itself also likely confirms rumours that the Mac App Store will be redesigned on macOS 10.14 to more closely resemble the App Store on iOS 11, including the addition of preview videos. The toolbar buttons are dark gray with white tints for the glyphs.

It's also worth noting that the storyboards open in the Xcode canvas depict a dark themed iPhone app. The Xcode 10 helps the developers in developing new apps on the platform. According to a report by MaxRumors, the colors of the theme of the macOS is darker in the video and even the trash can has a darker texture which is an indicator that this theme change could be system wide. This icon is not on the Mac: News. It shows sand dunes under a starry night sky.

As mentioned, macOS 10.14 will be unveiled at WWDC keynote which begins at 10.30pm IST (10am PT) today, along with iOS 12, watchOS 5, and tvOS 12. The background also has an image of the Mojave Desert in California suggesting the name of the next version be macOS Mojave.

Big thanks to Steve Troughton-Smith for this great find!
